I missed this last week, as did most newspapers it seems. However, it deserves highlighting due to the current Irish government’s eagerness to ape the American healthcare system.
 

Societies should not rely on market forces to protect the environment or provide quality health care for all citizens, a winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize for economics said on Monday.

But who would you trust? A pesky Princeton professor, or a career politician with an avowed fondness for Boston over Berlin? 

So J.K. Rowling outed one of her characters. Shame on her for indicating that her fictional creations may have backstories.

Unsursprisingly, some people have got upset.

Exhibit A

- Psycheout at Blogs 4 Brownback called it “revolting,” saying “Dumbledore is a gay homosexual who doesn’t deserve to live on G-d’s green earth.”

Fancy that, a gay homosexual? More concerning is the belief that fictional characters live on God’s green earth.

My admiration for J.K. Rowling just went up a notch.
